What is Aragaja? The Sacred Paste for Your Kuladeivam
Share
Aragaja is a traditional sacred preparation used across Tamil Nadu to create a calm, positive atmosphere and to strengthen the spiritual connection with the divine — especially when invoking the family deity (kuladeivam).
Aragaja paste
Apply a small amount on your forehead as tikka, or offer it to deities during worship. Aragaja tikka is believed to give positive power and drive negativity away, while its divine fragrance refreshes and relaxes the mind.
Aragaja oil
Add a few drops to deity idols during abhishekam, or mix with lamp oil while lighting the deepam — traditionally done to attract wealth and steady prosperity. On auspicious days, mix with water, sandalwood or turmeric to make a sacred paste.
Aragaja attar
Apply a little before meditation for a peaceful, focused atmosphere, or on clothes before important occasions.
Tip: keep aragaja products in a cool, dry place to maintain their aroma and consistency.
